String Quartet Concert, featuring some of the greatest works of chamber music.
Sunday, November 4, at 1pm., St. Thomas University Cullen Hall
The quartet features the musicians:
Dominika Dancewicz – violin
Juliette Javaheri – violin
Dawson White – viola
Patrick Moore – cello
This performance is sponsored by University of St. Thomas Music Department and Music Preparatory School. The event will be held in the early afternoon – just in time for you to enjoy fantastic music after your lunch and Sunday morning activities.
Our program will feature the powerful String Quartet No.3 by Dmitri Shostakovich called by the composer himself “The War Quartet”, a movement of mature String Quartet No. 23 by W.A. Mozart, and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s tumultuous String Quartet No.6 op.80 – the last piece he wrote before his untimely death. As always, you will learn more about the context of this powerful, passionate and highly narrative music as we present a short talk before each piece.
It is a great opportunity to bring your knowledge-hungry kids and music aficionado friends who like to expand their understanding of great art. Be sure to spread the word so we can share our music-making with big crowds! The concert is free and open to the public. Parking is available at UST garage at Graustark and W Alabama or on the surrounding streets. Please, refer to the attached poster for more detail and information.
We look forward to seeing you there!
