The History of the Catholic Church in Poland in the 20th Century

Register today for this opportunity from the St. John Paul II Institute to learn about The History of the Catholic Church in Poland in the 20th Century.

This mini-course will be presented ONLINE by Dr. Pawel Skibiński from the University of Warsaw, Poland.

WHEN: September 10 – October 3, 2024, Tue-Thu, 6:30 – 8:00 pm

‘The history of Catholicism in Poland in the 20th century does not fit the paradigm of development through secularization, which until recently dominated European and American universities. Our series of meetings aims to understand the peculiarities of Polish Catholicism in the past century. In doing so, we will have the opportunity to learn about outstanding figures of Polish Catholics whose significance went far beyond their homeland – including St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe, St. Faustyna Kowalska, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski and John Paul II (Karol Wojtyla). We will also be able to see in Polish Catholicism an important factor of resistance to both greatest 20th century totalitarianisms – German Nazism and Soviet communism.’
